Yummy Chicken Rice Ball in Melaka
Hello people! Let's talk about Chicken Rice Ball. Not easy to get Chicken Rice Ball in Klang. So, whenever we go to Melaka, Chicken rice ball is a must-eat for my family. 😛
We have tried many chicken rice balls restaurants in Melaka - Heng Hainanese, Melaka Chicken Rice Ball, Ee Ji Ban, Famosa Chicken Rice Ball, Hoe Kee, and i would say the best for us would be this:
Hainan Kitchen!
No, i am not affiliated to them. I just feel that overall they are good in their chicken rice ball.
My rating for this restaurant:
Location & parking: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Plenty of parking eventhough it is just one street. Probably away from tourist area.
Taste: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Referring to the chicken rice ball meal
Price: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Very cheap for me. They have student's price too - but only for students in their pinafore yah. lol
Variety of Menu: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
For me, the chicken in this dish must be really smooth and silky, but at the same time, cooked thoroughly. I am not a fan of slightly pinky or bloody chicken. Hainan Kitchen did this very well. Their chicken rice ball set comes in steamed chicken only, and in either chicken breast/wing (which is slightly cheaper at RM6+ with 9 chicken rice balls and a serving of chicken) and the Drumstick/ thigh (RM7+ with 9 chicken rice balls and a serving of chicken). Tell me, where can u find such cheap meal in Klang or KL? lol.
Next come the rice. One impression that this restaurant leave to me is once you pushed the door and enter, you can straightaway smell their rice. And when you look at their rice, it is slightly brownish- from the generous usage of ginger, shalllots, garlic, which generally says Oishi! The only thing i wished could be better is if the chicken rice ball could be warmer and they had give more cucumbers. But i totally understand it might not be practical as they may need to shape the rice much earlier and keep warm in rice cooker.
Other dishes that i would really encourage you guys to try is their chicken cordon bleu. They are generous in the mozarella cheese. Stringy effect kao kao. Yummy.
We have ordered other things such as the fried golden rice ball - pretty plain, nothing to shout out for. The photo above also show the Butter Chicken, which i don't think it is to our liking. The chicken is well marinaded in five spice powder and namyu, which i think overpower the entire taste. You don't taste butter at all. Maybe they should call it 5 spice chicken. 😬
But overall this is my favorite shop when it comes to chicken rice ball in Melaka. Will come back again for sure. Please stay open and prosper!
